2 1/2 Jahre nach dem international organisierten March for Freedom sind 6 AktvistInnen in Luxembourg-Stadt angeklagt. Während eines Aktionstags am 5.6.2014 war es in Luxembourg auf dem Kirchberg zu 13 brutalen Festnahmen während einer Demonstration gekommen. Anlass war eine Tagung der EU-Innenminister zum Thema „Kampf gegen illegale Immigration.“
Den Angeklagten wird gemeinschaftlicher Verstoß gegen Art. 269 des Luxemburger StGB vorgeworfen (Rebellion), zudem noch einzeln Körperverletzung, Sachbeschädigung, Beleidigung und Widerstand.
Beim selbstorganisierten March for Freedom marschierten ca. 100 AktivstInnen von Mai bis Juni 2014 mehr als 500 km von Straßburg nach Brüssel. Sie überquerten friedlich 6 EU-Landesgrenzen und organisierten Aktionstage in mehreren Städten sowie ein einwöchiges Protestcamp in Brüssel, um gegen die europäische Migrations- und Asylpolitik zu protestieren.
In Luxembourg hatte eine Delegation von Geflüchteten um Mitsprache beider EU-Innenministerkonferenz gebeten. Dem friedlichen Protest wurde daraufhin ein massiver Polizeieinsatz entgegengesetzt. Mit Reizgas, Schlagstöcke und Hunden ohne Maulkorb ging die BeamtInnen auf die Protestierenden los.
Eine Aktivistin wurde von einem Hund gebissen und mehrere Teilnehmende erlitten Verletzungen durch Reizgas und Schläge. Auch Polizisten wurden durch ihr eigenes Reizgas verletzt und wollen dies den AktivistInnen anlasten!
13 Teilnehmende wurden festgenommen. Einige wurden anschließend auf der Wache misshandelt und rassistisch erniedrigt. Der Einsatz brachte der Luxemburger Polizei heftige Kritik im eigenen Land ein. Auf direkte Anordnung des Luxemburger Innenministeriums wurden alle 13 Verhaftete wenige Stunden später entlassen und konnten ohne weiteres das Land verlassen.
Luxemburger JuristInnen kritisierten den „unverhältnismäßigen Einsatz von Gewalt“ seitens der Polizei. Ein Untersuchungsausschuss des Innenministeriums befasste sich daraufhin mit dem Einsatz. Mehr als 2 Jahre nach dem Vorfall, kurz vor Ende der Verjährungsfrist, erhob die Staatsanwaltschaft dann Anklage.
Die Hauptverhandlung in Luxembourg wurde 2016 zweimal vertagt, das zweite Mal weil das Gericht keinen Dolmetscher für einen der Angeklagten bestellt hatte. Der nächste Termin ist für den 5. und 6. April 2017 festgesetzt. Wer zur Prozessbeobachtung mit nach Luxemburg reisen möchte, ist willkommen. Reisekosten können leider nicht übernommen werden.
Die Prozess- und Anfahrtskosten haben inzwischen ein beträchtliches Niveau erreicht. Wir sind ca. 2000 EUR im Minus und freuen uns über finanzielle Unterstützung und Publicity für diesen Fall. Two and a half years after the international mobilization for the March for Freedom, six activists were charged with serious crimes in Luxembourg. Thirteen activists were brutally arrested during Day of Action demonstration on June 5, 2014. They were demonstrating against the European Union Conference of the Ministers of the Interior, on the subject “the fight against illegal immigration.” The arrested activists were accused of violating Article 269 of the Luxembourg Criminal Code – i.e. Rebellion. In addition there were also charges of personal injury, property damage, insulting a police officer and resisting arrest.

100 activists participated in the March for Freedom. From May to June 2014, they marched 500 kilometers from Strasbourg to Brussels. In their protest against the European migration and asylum policies, the activists peacefully crossed six EU boarders and organized days of action in many cities, and a one week protest camp in Brussels.

In Luxembourg a delegation of refugees requested the right to address the EU conference of the Ministers of the Interior. There was a massive police action against the March for Freedom protesters. The Police officers moved against the protesters with tear gas, clubs and dogs without muzzles.

One activist was bitten by a dog and many participants suffered injuries from the tear gas and beatings. Some police sustained injuries from their own tear gas, and wanted to blame this on the activists!

Thirteen participants were arrested. Some of them were then abused and humiliated at the police station. The police action brought sharp public criticism about the Luxembourg police in their own country. After a few hours, the Luxembourg Ministry of the Interior ordered all thirteen of the arrested activists to be released, and they were able to leave the country without further problems.

Luxembourg lawyers criticized the “disproportionate use of force” by the police. The Ministry of the Interior investigation committee then dealt with the police deployment. More than two years later, just before the end of the limitation period, the Prosecutor pressed charges.

The actual trial was postponed twice in 2016; the second time was because the state did not have a translator for one of the defendants. The next date for the trial is set for April 5th and 6th 2017. We welcome all who would like to join in monitoring the trial. Unfortunately, we are not able to pay for travel expenses.

The court and travel costs have bin significant. We are in debt for over EU 2000 in this case. We would appreciate financial support and publicity for this case. One can find many press reports on this case through Google. Our statements are posted on our blogs (see below)

Gestern waren wir auf der Kundgebung für die Freilassung aller politischen Gefangenen! vor dem Gefängnis in der Turmstr. in Berlin. Wir waren dort wegen der Verhaftung von 11 Leuten in Luxemburg auf dem March for Freedom 2014. Auch ich bin damals verhaftet worden; auf dem Foto liege ich unter den Polizisten am Boden. Die Polizei hatte mit Hunden ohne Maulkorb die Demo angegriffen vor dem Gebäude, wo die  Innenministerkonferenz stattfand. Wir haben dort gegen  Dublin 3, 4 usw., gegen Abschiebungen und EU-Asylpolitik und gegen geschlossene Grenzen protestiert. Die Polizei in Luxemburg hat uns geschlagen und jetzt zwei Jahre später sind wir angeklagt. Am 29. November 2016 waren wir schon in Luxemburg vor Gericht aber es gab keinen Dolmetscher und die Verhandlung wurde verschoben auf den 5. und 6. April 2017. Deswegen waren wir gestern auf der Demo für die Freilassung aller politischen Gefangenen! in Berlin und haben erzählt was in Luxemburg  passiert ist – für mich ist sehr klar, wir kämpfen für unsere Rechte, für Bewegungsfreiheit. Es ist wichtig, dass die Leute zusammenkommen und zusammen kämpfen für ihre Rechte  – jeder hat das Recht zu demonstrieren! Ich habe an vielen Demos teilgenommen aber was in Luxemburg passiert ist war schlimm; ohne Kommunikation hat die Polizei einfach angegriffen und die Demo eingekesselt. Es wurde gesagt, dass wir eine bewaffnete Revolution gemacht hätten und das stimmt nicht, es war ein friedlicher Marsch, die Polizei war gewalttätig. 6 Leute von uns wurden dann zwei Jahre später angeklagt, ich bin einer davon.

Die Politik der EU ist es die Leute zu spalten, sie zu diskriminieren aber ich habe keine Angst, ich kämpfe für die Freiheit und ich hoffe dass alle Leute vestehen, dass es nicht kriminell ist für die Freiheit zu kämpfen und für seine Rechte zu kämpfen. Wir brauchen die Solidarität der Menschen in unserem Kampf, es geht nicht wegzuschauen wenn andere Menschen um ihre Freiheit kämpfen müssen.picture taken at the march for freedom close to Shengen

Solidary with the Luxemburg Defendants – Free all Political Prisoners!

Yesterday we were at a rally to “free all political prisoners! “. It was in front of the prison on TurmStr. in Berlin. We were that because of the arrest of 11 people in Luxemburg who were in arrested at the March for Freedom Luxemburg in 2014. I was also arrested at that time. In the photo I am laying on the ground under the police. The police attacked the demonstration in front of the building where conference of the ministers of Interior was taking place. The attacked with dogs. The dogs wore no mussels. We were there to protest against Dublin 3 & 4 etc. and against deportation and European Union asylum policies and against closing the borders. The police in Luxemburg beat us up and now two years later we are being accused. On November 29, 2016 we were in court in Luxemburg. There was no translator and the trial was put off until the 5th and 6th of April 2017. That is why we went to the demo to free all political prisoners yesterday (March 18th)  in Berlin, and we spoke about what happened in Luxemburg. For me it is very clear. We fight for our civil rights, for freedom of movement. It is important that the people come together and fight together for their rights. Everyone has the right to demonstrate! I have participated in many demos, but what happened in Luxemburg, that was really bad. Without any warning, the police had simply moved in and surrounded the demonstration. It has been said that we started an armed revolution, and that isn’t true. It was a peaceful marc, the police were violent. Six of our people were then accused two years later. I am one of them.

It is the policy of the EU is to split people , to discriminate against them. But have no fear, I will fight for freedom and I hope that everyone understands that it is not criminal to fight for freedom, and for ones rights. We need solidarity from people in our fight. One cannot look the other way when other people have to fight for their freedom.

I hope that it goes well on the 5th and 6th of April. On Friday March 24, there will be a meeting at Waldemarstr. 46 (corner Adalbert Str.), come by and inform yourselves, you can ask questions and show your solidarity.

Prozess in Luxemburg – Repression gegen ‘March For Freedom”

2 1/2 Jahre nach dem international organisierten March for Freedom sind 6 Aktvist_innen in Luxemburg-Stadt angeklagt. Während eines Aktionstags am 5.6.2014 war es in Luxemburg auf dem Kirchberg zu 13 brutalen Festnahmen während einer Demonstration gekommen. Nun sind am 29.11. 2016 sechs der Verhafteten in Luxemburg vorgeladen. Ihnen wird gemeinschaftlich Verstoß gegen Art. 269 des Luxemburger StGB vorgeworfen (bewaffnete Rebellion), zudem noch einzeln Körperverletzung, Sachbeschädigung, Beleidigung und Widerstand.

Mehr als 2 Jahre nach dem Vorfall, kurz vor Ende der Verjährungsfrist, meldet sich nun die Staatsanwaltschaft mit fabriziert erscheinenden Anklagen. Sechs der 13 Verhafteten wird nun „bewaffnete Rebellion“ nach vorheriger Vereinbarung vorgeworfen.

 

Es ist zu erwarten, dass die kritisierten Sicherheitsbehörden einen politischen Prozess führen wollen. Trotz der schwachen Beweislage sind die Anklagen sehr massiv. In Luxemburg gibt es kaum politische Verfahren und keine große Öffentlichkeit, wie in Nachbarstaaten. Daher rufen wir auf zu internationaler Prozessbeobachtung. Trial in Luxemburg – Repression against „March for Freedom“

Two and a half years after the internationally organized March for Freedom, six activists are going to trial. During the day of action on May 5, 2014 there were thirteen brutal arrests at a demonstration on the Kirchberg in Luxemburg. The demonstration was a protest against a meeting of European Union Ministers of Interior entitled “Fight Against Illegal Immigration”.

Now six of those who were arrested in Luxemburg are being summoned to court on November 29, 2016. They are accused of collectively violating Article 269 of the Luxembourg Criminal Code (armed rebellion). In addition there are individual counts of bodily injury, damage to property, insulting [the police]and resisting arrest.

During the self-organized “March for Freedom” ( May – June 2014), about 100 activists marched more than 500 kilometers from Strasbourg to Brussels. They peacefully crossed 6 EU national borders and organized days of action in several cities, as well as a one-week protest camp in Brussels.

On the day in question, a delegation of refugees had asked to speak to the House of Representatives’ Conference. The response was a massive police deployment including use of pepper spray, batons and dogs without muzzles. One activist was bitten by a dog and several participants suffered injuries due to pepper gas and beatings. The physical abuse and racial humiliation continued in the police station.

This news of this Luxembourg police action was criticized strongly in their own country. By order of the Luxembourg Ministry of the Interior, all 13 detainees were released a few hours after their arrest. Luxembourg lawyers’ denunciation of the “disproportionate use of violence” by the police was reported in the press. An investigation committee of the Ministry of the Interior then dealt with this police deployment.

More than two years after the incident, just before the end of the statute of limitations, the prosecutor’s office has announced newly fabricated accusations. Six of the thirteen people who were originally arrested are now accused of plotting an “armed rebellion“.

It is expected that the security authorities who were criticized, now want to create a political show trial. Despite the lack of evidence, the accusations are massive. Political trials are very rare in Luxembourg and there is as not much public awareness there as there is in neighboring countries. Therefore, we call for international observers to come to the trial. Donations for travel and legal fees are also welcome.

En 2014, plus que 100 personnes ont participé dans la marche pour la liberté de Strassbourg à Bruxelles pour revendiquer la liberté de circulation pour toutes et tous. maintenant, 2 ans aprés, six activistes doivent se présenter au tribunal pour une accusation en connection avec un jour d’action à Luxembourg. Biensur, quelques un.e.s de vous se souviennent encore des images de la réaction brutale de la police à la protestation paisible en occasion de la réunion de l’UE concernant “la lutte contre l’immigration illégale”, ou peut-être vous y étiez
vous-mêmes… La procedure judiciaire aura lieu le 29 novembre à 9 h à Luxembourg
(ville). Ne laissons pas nos ami.e.s activistes et ami.e.s subir cela toute seule.

Si tu peux, viens là-bas et montres ta solidarité!

Faxkampagne gegen Abschiebungen

Aktiviert euch gegen die Abschiebung!!

Am 14. und am 15.07.2014 sollen Mohammed Nawaz – ein Aktivist des March for Freedom – und Taseef Ahmed aus der JVA Mühldorf abgeschoben werden. Da die Flugnummern noch nicht bekannt sind, soll zunächst das BAMF und die JVA Mühldorf mit dem unten stehenden Text bombardiert werden. Bitte streut das in alle Netzwerke und telefoniert, faxt und emailt morgen, Montag und Dienstag. Findet Politiker_innen und Medien, die ebenfalls bei der JVA Druck machen können!

Israel: Refugee Marches for Freedom and Mass Demonstrations

Indeed, we are going through some intensive days… the trigger that started all this is the amendments of the anti infiltration bill (adopted by the government in respond to the supreme court ruling in September 2013) changing the policy from detaining the asylum seekers in prison to detaining them in an “open facility”. the open facility has no fences but just like the prison – it’s run by the prison authorities, its placed in the desert 60 KM from the nearest city and asylum seekers are required to report three times a day for a headcount. the day after the open facility was open, the refugees started marching to Jerusalem in a protest for their arrest. They were brutally arrested and punished – returned to the “real” prison without their gear nor blankets and – – it’s COLD in the desert…
