Oury Jalloh: Press release of PEACE- Int. concerning the developments in the case

Initiative in memory of Oury Jalloh

Oury Jalloh

On 27th of October 2015 the Initiative in Memory of Oury Jalloh is calling once more to a press conference in order to exhibit the findings till now, concerning the case of Oury Jalloh, demanding anew that the case be dealt with as a murder case and be investigated thoroughly and to the full.

It is close to 11 years, on the 7th of January 2005 Oury Jalloh, an African asylum seeker from Sierra Leone, was rubbed of his young life in a police cell in the German city of Dessau. The circumstances surrounding his death have not been adequately explained neither by police present at the time of the crime nor by judicial efforts on the side of the German regime. Countless days of hearings in the German courts costing almost half a million euro have proved futile in the case while numerous persecutions and charges against those seeking the truth of Oury Jalloh’s murder have put activists and relatives under enormous pressure. The unprofessional, unreliable, biased and actively manipulated criminal investigations have led to the African Communities, the Initiative in Memory of Oury Jalloh and supporters of their course to believe that the German regime is unwilling to give justice for the murdered African.

Closed to 11 years now the state attorney of Saxony-Anhalt in Germany is still following the version of the police, backed by their chosen experts that Jalloh took his own life, by putting an inflammable mattress on fire although he was chained on hand and feet to the tiled walls and floor while lain on the mattress.

We first of all acknowledge and call for the support of the Initiative in Memory of Oury Jalloh, the African Communities and supporters for their relentless efforts to seek the truth behind this heinous crime. Their efforts stop neither at borders nor at persecution. The Initiative has entrusted renowned fire investigators, toxicologists and forensic pathologists who are independent from German authorities to carry out thorough review, re-evaluation and re-assessment of available court files, official investigation records and self-implemented experts opinions as to elaborate clarifying answers to the questions that arose from the fire report of the assigned thermic physicist, Mr. Maksim Smirnou, commissioned in 2013.

The Initiative in Memory of Oury Jalloh is once more calling for a press conference on the 27th of October 2015, in order to exhibit the findings till now and demand anew that the case be dealt with as a murder case and be investigated thoroughly and to the full.

Jalloh’s mother who was in Germany more than twice to witness the trials, will not see justice being done to her son anymore (since she transcended to meet the Ancestors and Ancestresses), but the fight must continue for the sake of the African communities living in Germany and to set a precedent.

We call everyone especially the German, regional and international Media to join the Initiative in Memory of Oury Jalloh on Tuesday 27th of October 2015, at 10 a.m. at Haus der Demokratie und Menschenrechte Berlin (House of Democracy and Human Rights) Greifswalder Straße 4, 10405 Berlin – Prenzlauer Berg, be informed and publish the new findings about the murder of our African brother.

We demand Truth, Justice and Reparation! For Oury Jalloh.

In the African community, you touch one you touch all!

·      We call on the African Union (AU) representative in Germany, the African Ambassadors and their diplomatic corps in Germany to be part of the call for Justice for the murdered African, Oury Jalloh.

·      We demand the AU and the various African governments to set up mechanisms and hotlines to listen to, defend and protect Africans and nationals in the Diaspora from abuses in other continents and countries of residence.
