Wednesday, 7. October, 15:00 – 20:00
Landesamt für Gesundheit und Soziales, Turmstraße 21, 10559 Berlin
The aim is to organize a gathering in front of the LAGESO as a central place, where Refugees first arrive in Berlin, register and thereby start their existence as Refugees.
For every simple thing Refugees have to visit the LAGESO. So since weeks the Reality in front of the LAGESO is an “emergency situation”. Hundreds of people are going every day to this place. There are people who stay there for more than 3 weeks and waiting for further process. We want to make the movement My right is your right visible not only to confront the state official’s at LAGESO and raise publicity with our existence, critique and requests – but also give a sign to the newcomers: They have rights, we are not in line with recent political decisions cutting the right to ask for asylum, with the unacceptable conditions of overloaded refugee housing, with new border controls and fences – short: with what they try to sell as a “solution” of the refugee crisis.
We appreciate that Government stopped Dublin for Syrian Refugees but control on borders (inside EU) is a still question mark. This is human discrimination.
With the action we also address the helpers, who are now working already since weeks to support the people. Everybody is angry about the system. Our goal is to bring the anger of each side together and be more focused in a direction and so the structure of the fight can get clearer. My Right is Your Right is expecting the Theaters now to come and position them.
We would especially invite people working for various associations involved with counseling, assistance, legal support e.g. of refugees in Berlin and trying to make things move forward in better way. This is an open invitation for all those who want to say something on stage (short statements) at organizational / individual level.
We also want to give Refugees who are living in tents and surviving with the help by citizens the opportunity to speak on stage. Any language is acceptable; we have translators for Arabic, Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi. (We are still looking for someone for Farsi)
Private service provider companies are being well paid from LAGESO but they are treating Refugees in worst way. In the Refuguee-Heims there is no internet, no guests are allowed after evening, no press is allowed. There are no playing areas for children, people only have very small rooms they have to share with others and which are often overcrowded. There is most of the time only one kitchen and bathroom for 10-20 Families, which are not in a very good condition and dirty. All of these things discriminate in many ways the people who live there. LAGESO should take notice of it and fight against it.
After the statements there will be a concert. We have confirmation from Cigir, Kaveh, ADS and Refugee Club.
We want to point our fingers to politics and politicians that do not accept their responsibilities and involvement into the causes of forced migration – helping is not a question of good will – it should not be question at all! We want to give people who are directly concerned by the inhuman consequences of those politics and fences – people who arrive in Berlin as refugees today – space to raise their voices and join the discussion!
Join us in making a clear statement that day!
