Carnival Al-Lajiìn
Demonstration of My Right is Your Right!
on the Global Day of Action against Racism
Sunday, 20th March 2016
2 PM | Platz der Luftbrücke | Berlin
#20M #MRIYR

On the occasion of the Global Day Against Racism, the self-organized Refugee Club Impulse (RCI) invites you to the Carnival Al-Lajiìn_Al-Lajiàat, the Carnival of the Refugees, on 20th March 2016 in Berlin. The Carnival wants to raise voices against the isolation of refugees and make clear political demands against the tightening of asylum laws and the discrimination of refugees. On this day, refugees will demonstrate in the streets of Berlin and use art as a tool to highlight their issues and demands.

My Right Is Your Right! joins RCI’s call for the Carnival Al-Lajiìn_Al-Lajiàat and supports the refugees’ struggles for their rights. We are an alliance of creative artists, activists, lawyers, refugees, freedom fighters, clubs, unionists, neighbourhood initiatives and many other groups and individuals, who started working together in November 2014. The protests of Oranienplatz and Ohlauer School in Kreuzberg were our starting points.
Over the last year, governments have tightened asylum laws, right wing mobilizations have gained supporters and racist attacks have increased in Germany and Europe generally. Protests against racism, for the right to move, the right to stay, and better living conditions for all are getting louder while remaining ignored by large parts of our society. The Carnival Al-Lajiìn_Al-Lajiàat wants to take the streets once more and bring our diverse struggles and demands into the public in an artistic way:
No to the tightening of asylum laws! Stop building fences and walls! Stop isolating and dividing people!

The EU is at war against refugees and migrants. Constantly, new laws are passed to scare people from coming. But the destruction Germany and the EU causes in many places of the world in a continuation of (neo)colonial politics, military interventions and economic exploitation, are forcing people to flee. The EU border agency Frontex is just one example: The thousands of deaths at the borders and seas are a proof of fatal politics. Meanwhile, terms like “Obergrenzen”, “Transitzonen” and “sichere Herkunftsstaaten” legitimize racist discourses to divide people into wanted and unwanted human beings, into “real” and “fake” refugees. We say: No to the new asylum laws! No to isolation! No to racism and hatred!

For the right to stay! For the right to choose where and how to live!
The right to asylum is a basic human right and should not be a privilege you apply for. The right to stay (Bleiberecht) is a first step, but everyone should have the right to live in dignity. Instead of inhuman mass accommodations, we want the right for all to have a living space in humane conditions. The inhumane conditions at the Berliner LaGeSo (Landesamt für Gesundheit und Soziales) and at the growing mass accommodations (Notunterkünfte) all over Germany are a wanted escalation by the Berlin senate and other federal administrations to dehumanize, scare and oppress people. We don’t accept these obvious violations of
human rights. We say: No to deportations! All people have the right to stay wherever they want and choose how they want to live!

The Carnival Al-Lajiìn_Al-Lajiàat wants to spread the unheard voices and knowledge. Let us break the isolation and come together. You say, we already have a “welcoming culture” in Germany? We say, we need solidarity, not charity! We want all rights for all people!

Einladung zur Vorbereitung: My Right Is Your Right! – Carnival Al-Lajiìn (März 2016)

13th January | 18:30h | Brinkmannzimmer, Maxim-Gorki-Theater

Carnival Al-Lajiìn
Demonstration von My Right is Your Right!
am Globalen Tag gegen Rassismus
Sonntag, 20. März 2016
14 Uhr | Platz der Luftbrücke | Berlin
#20M #MRIYR
