Support Roma Families in Gorli and Cuvry
Yesterday the police appeared again in in the görlitzer park, with more than 10 people, and confiscated all the tents of the families that are still there. The ‘brache’ next to markgrafendamm (ostkreuz) was evicted as well.
The jugendamt didn’t withdraw its threats to take the children away if the families would stay in the park. lots of people left already, to duisburg, to romania . . . some families are still there, but without any real possibility to leave the park. if you have any idea for a safe space for them, contact case-pentru-toti@riseup.net! or a free room, where some people could stay some time?
The remaining 3 families said, even a place where they can put their cars and tents without access of police/ ordnungsamt/ jugendamt would be ok for the beginning . . .
or any good idea where to ask?
- a room for living.
- a parking place that they can park their cars and sleep in the cars. ordnungsamt shouldnt have access to this place.
- a place which they can set up their tents and live in it.
“The danger is that there is no toilets and no running water for hygiene. you can not protect yourself and your children from the influences of the weather. You are exposed to the aggression of others. The park has Rats and other animals, which you and your children are not protected from”
“We know that you and your children desperately need a home. But we can not find accommodation for you”
amongst other topics they will discuss:
2) CUVRY: where is still place for the homeless people from cuvry?;
3) ROMA FAMILIES: in and around Görlitzer Park; taking children in custodial care; (police control and razzias in görlitzer park

The police isolated the “emergency camp” and doesnt let anybody and press to join them.
A press conference is announced at the place “Cuvrystraße / Wrangelstraße” , but the police doesnt let the press to go there.
12am
The Berlin Polis attacked and evicted the small “emergency camp” which the former residents of cuvrybrache has made in Cuvrystraße / Wrangelstraße. it is still unclear for the people where can they go, and it is hard for them to find a place without police stress.
they write:
Meter um Meter, Ecke für Ecke werden jetzt die ehemaligen Bewohner_innen von der Cuvrystr. und aus Kreuzberg mit Platzverweisen, Schubsen und Schlägen, vertrieben
9am
The demolition of cuvrybrache has got started. The Bulldozer started destroying and taking away the houses and belongings of 150 people who used to live there. The people had got no chance to take their belongings except a 1 minute chance in the first night.
Sunday 21 September 2014
In the morning at 7 am around 50 policemen attacked the cuvry inhabitants who was sleeping in front of it. Two people got arrested and some got injured by the police. They write on their statement:
The authorities of the city have made over a hundred people homeless. Now is trying to expel people from the vicinity of Cuvry. Out of sight, out of mind!
But that doesn’t work. A new camp of displaced people has been formed on the Cuvrystraße.
Here, approximately 30 displaced of the Cuvry endure and organize their opposition to the expulsion policy and their bare survival.
On the other hand the Jugnedam want to take away the children from the roma families. They spread a paper, exclusively in German, amongst the roma families living in Goerlitzerpark (After they forcibly lost their place in Ohlauerschool), writing:
“The danger is that there is no toilets and no running water for hygiene. you can not protect yourself and your children from the influences of the weather. You are exposed to the aggression of others. The park has Rats and other animals, which you and your children are not protected from”
“We know that you and your children desperately need a home. But we can not find accommodation for you”
Saturday 20 September 2014
Around 30 inhabitants of cuvry start to luve in cuvrystr. 100 meters from the brache. They arrange very simple sleeping places and start to form their resistance against the illegal eviction. (video)
Friday 19 September 2014
The next day a lot of police forces came to the place and made a fence around it. It was a similar situation to the Ohlauer school, of having so many police forces on the place. The posted one photo also to their twitter account trying to show that the place in completely burned which is totally not true.
In their press release, people of Cuvrybrache announced that:
After the fire, the police, with a claim of investigation (murder case) closed the place. The also evicted the people who wasn’t afraid of the fire and was still inside the place. (even the people who was in a boat). After a lot of pressure by the inhabitants, each person got a 1 minute chance to take the personal belongings from home. after that the brache is empty surrounded by metal fences and massive police forces.
the next day, different press wrote that the district offered accommodation to the inhabitants. This is not true. The district just spreaded business cards of overcrowded shelters in Berlin.
Basically they lost (and they claim their stuff got stolen (video)) most of their belongings and left alone in the street.
However the eviction is done because there is going to make a big house project by private section, it was voted by citizens on 2008 that the place should stay free and open:
Thursday 18 September 2014
Cuvrybrache got violently and without any notice evicted. Cuvrybrache was one of the last free and open spaces in Kreuzberg in with more than 150 inhabitants consisting of roma families with children, refugees from the occupied Ohlauer school, artists and more.
First there was a fire on 10pm started inside the place. As there are many wooden houses inside the fire started to grow. The witnesses who were in the place believe that the Feuerwehr didn’t react really and let the fire grow and burn more houses. In reaction to the fire some of the inhabitants come out of the place and police used this opportunity to evict the place. So police forced everybody out and didn’t let them inside the place anymore.
SUPPORT
in the whole time there was almost no support from the people and activists in Berlin. Eventhough the “inhabitants” of cuvry are asking for it for several times.
