Refugee Protest March 2016 Munich to Nuremberg

La versione française se trouve en bas

We are back again, next to you, to share with you information about continuing our activities. But also to say thank you for always supporting us, financially,  morally, physically or in substance – you help us more than you think.

Refugee Struggle for Freedom is not only fighting for freedom of movement, but also against discrimination of all kinds, against racism and  discrimination and all the destruction that emerges from capitalist system.

We are a political group consisting of women and men of different nationalities. Unfortunately, few active women are with us. That´s why our next action also will be to continue by mobilizing more women and call them for joining us to take the streets. During the past four months we have been struggling continuously, from protest camp at Sendlinger Tor to the protest march to Nürnberg till hunger strike in Munich. But unfortunately the struggle still is far from being won and until than we are not thinking about giving up. So we decided to continue and mobilize as many refugees as possible, because situation became even worse, almost unbearable.

We will start mobilizing in Munich and continue through Landshut, Nürnberg, Würzburg and surrounding area. In order to achieve our purpose, we need financial support from all those who are in solidarity with our cause. We will buy train tickets, pay for gasoline, and of course have to finance our collective daily food. Therefore we really need the support from all of you. In these four months, we will be at the refugeecamps and everywhere to make the protest bigger. With your support it is as if you were at our side  – all the time.

In honor of Oury Jalloh / Oury Jalloh zu Ehren gewidmet / l’honneur de Oury Jalloh – Refugee Struggle for Freedom

(french, german bellow)

In honor of Oury Jalloh

This day is specially dedicated in honor of Oury Jalloh, this young martyr who, in the prime of his life, perished in the hands of judiciary, which was supposed to guarantee him security. He perished because he had the misfortune to be born black. He had the misfortune to leave his home country without worrying about the dangers of the other side. But to tell the truth, how many Oury Jallohs are there in the world? – Too many, everywhere.

Let’s look at the biggest democratic state in the world, the USA. Every day we hear: Afro-American killed by the police. Afro-American slaughtered by the police. And who knows how many Oury Jallohs are among us here and who of us will be the next victim? Never think we have peace while we sleep. For the ones who do nothing to improve their situation have no right to lament their fate. Do not be deceived. It is only through struggle, that we can achieve something. Who will do it in our place if not ourselves? No one, no NGO, no government. Not even our own heads of state, as they are too busy raising money before the end of their term, or ways to stay longer in power.

Never give up, never stop fighting, never sleep. For Oury Jalloh, for all unknown victims of racist aggression and judiciary system.

*****

About the wind as our companion and the deportation prison in our heads. Looking back on two months of protest

protest-march-2016-munchen-to-nurnberg

The time has come to take stock of our struggle over the past two months, to know where we have been succesful and where we have lost time. This is the moment of truth.

I took part in the demonstration of 07.09.2016 which marked the beginning of our protest actions not only as a member of Refugee Struggle for Freedom but as a person, as a human being, but mainly because I belong to this world that belongs to nobody and that no one has contributed to create. You can talk about borders or illegal entries, but what about the overexploitation of our natural resources, what about Western puppet-politicians who are governing our countries and what about all that which exists but does not belong to us? No one talks about it, nobody, because we are used as objects when there is a need us – for example as cheap labor force, or as a scapegoat for social conflicts. But when there is no more need for us, we become the misery of the world.

At Sendlinger Tor, I felt very integrated because we were able to experience the realities of life outside the camps, with people of good will who supported us. Even though we had to deal with Nazis and other troublemakers, it was better than being locked up in the camps.

The walking route to Nürnberg made me and many others come to life again. We were able to savor nature, far from everything, with the pure wind, which knows neither race nor nationality and who has guided us with its rhythmic breath through the cities of Germany. Crossing these cities was like crossing borders. If only the world could be like that! For all the benefits of the world are created for humans. Birds know no boundaries, but we, human beings with consciousness, deprive other human beings of their right to move, to come and go freely, and this leads to fear of being arrested or mistreated.

On our return from Nürnberg, we had to go on hunger strike because it was the only way to make ourselves heard. It was a lot harder because there are a lot of ill people among us who, despite their illnesses, went on a hunger strike even though it could have had an adverse effect on their health. On the fifth day we announced that the next day we would also stop drinking. That same afternoon, the police came suddenly with 600 police officers to end our strike. Some of us stayed, others went to the other side of the street and climbed the trees. As those who stayed there, how could we have resisted 600 policemen? We, 60 refugees at the end of their forces?
On the other side of the street I could hear the cries of my friend who had been kicked by the policemen. And as if the brutal repression of the police was not enough, each refugee who took refuge in the trees will be liable to a very high fine.

It was to be expected that the police would suddenly come to put an abrupt end to our hunger strike, we had to expect to be held responsible for all the problems of others simply because we opposed to all the German institutions that want to destroy us or have already destroyed us for quite a long time. It is always said that solidarity must be lived together. That is what we did. We fought alongside unions and independent social groups without asking for anything in return. Now we need you. So, help us!

I have my own problems, my own worries, but it is nothing compared to the daily difficulties my brothers encounter. They are afraid to start a new life from zero in another country. They are afraid of being expelled and confronted with their past. And this fear is well founded. One of our brothers was deported to Afghanistan, another to Senegal, a third has left on his own, and seven others have been transferred to the Bamberg camp.

Even though we are not in detention camps in order to be deported, our thoughts and daily fear is worse than a modern prison. What have we done? What is our sin? Is it a crime to flee from war, misery, poverty, repression? Do people deserve this condemnation and the exclusion from all systems?

We, the people of the Global South, are the victims and the scapegoats of all time. We were sold as slaves, forced into the liberation of Europe during the two wars, colonized and stripped, and yet our zest for life is stronger than all the evil we have been subjected to in the past and that we still suffer today. You may find it difficult to put yourself in our place, to listen to our voices, to feel our suffering, to understand our struggle “Freiheit – freedom, kein Mensch ist illegal”. We do not want to be concentrated in camps like a herd that is given the opportunity to drink, we want to be an integral part of society with the right to go and to come, the right to education but also the right to work. We all know that with all these rights inequalities will still be visible to the eyes of all. Like the struggle of women against sexual inequalities. That is why we will continue to fight. The truth is that having a residence permit does not mean you’re off the hook. On the contrary, it is only the beginning of the fight against inequalities.

In conclusion, let me say that leaving borders open means giving back to humanity its right to free movement everywhere on earth, but first of all let’s open our hearts and free them from racism, colonialism and trivialities of this world such as money and power.

Was ist unser Vergehen?

Distribute the latest edition of Daily Resistance newspaper: Non-citizen Rise Up in Bavaria

Daily Resistance Refugee Protest 2016 Bavaria

Non-citizen Rise Up in Bavaria

Dear people of the world,

we have published the new issue of the newspaper “Daily Resistance”, and now it’s the time to bring the paper to the hands of people living in the lagers, by you!

This issue comes “separately” in 7 languages

This issue of Daily Resistance has a difference with the ones before. For this issue we made a complete translation of the articles into 7 different languages. And we distribute them separately. You can have a look at the pdf file for each language:

This issue comes with a comic and poster

Additionally the newspaper comes with the “Ways to stop deportation“ comic for all languages except Urdu and Kurdi (Sorani).
And in the middle of the newspaper there is a colored poster about the Bavarian Non-citizen group „Refugee Struggle for Freedom“ with photos of their latest actions.
This issue has 5 pages: 2 pages about the Noncitizen rise up in Bavaria + 2 pages the stop deportation comic + 1 page of poster

This issue is now ready for distribution!

We are looking for people who have contact to people living in Lagers and so-called refugees and can help to spread Daily Resistance.
It is one thing to produce this paper, print it, hand compile it (!) but a totally different one to get it out into the world.
Join us and spread the newspaper to the newcomers and others concerned!

How can I distribute the newspaper?

Please send us an email on dailyresistance@oplatz.net .
In the email please write:
1- Your postal address
2- Your telephone number
3- How many copies from each language you would like to receive
We would like to ask you to tell us in which languages you would need the newspaper. Because we print different languages separately and for reducing the costs we try to give to each person just the language they want, unlike the mixed format of last issues.
Later on in January we will post you the newspapers.

Daily Resistance is for free.

It is important to us that you understand, that you can get the newspaper if you don’t have money – especially if you live in a lager yourself and like to distribute there.

It’s a focus issue on the Non-citizen Rise up in Bavaria

In the last autumn there was a big Non-citizen rise up in Bavaria.  After one month of mobilisation in different lagers, it has been decided at the non-citizen meeting on the 6th and 7th of September 2016 in Munich to make a demonstration and a protest camp at Sendlinger Tor. The aim was to draw attention on the political situation of non-citizens. The camp had a legal permission for more than a month and up to 100 protesters took part in it during day and night.
After 3 weeks of occupation, the people decided to make a march from Munich to Nuremberg to bring their protest further. They started on 8th of October from Munich. After walking 10 days, they made 200 kilometers to Nuremberg. They had a strong demonstration in front of the BAMF (Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge), calling for their and our demands. As the reason and demand of the protest, they write:
We want for everybody in Germany to have the right to stay, right to work and right to study here. Also, we want the right to choose freely our living place. Our main demand is having the right to stay here. All of other demands can become possible afterwards. They are all civil rights and are just possible when we are accepted as members in this society.
Here in Berlin, working on the Daily Resistance newspaper, we decided to put the focus of this issue on the new protest in Bavaria. We find it important to echo their valuable message to the other people/non-citizens living in the lagers. The articles in this issue are a selection of statements of protestors in the last 3 months and all are written by the non-citizens.

Daily Resistance is the newspaper of “Refugee Movement”

We are a mixed group of people and activists in Berlin who fight against isolation and lagers in oranienplatz and other places.
Daily Resistance is a periodical newspaper on actual paper written by refugee activists aimed to reach people in lagers. We want to inform them on the state of resistance in Germany and to empower them for their everyday resistance against the system.
After publishing  the first and second issues, we have received a lot of positive feedback. Many people started to write for the newspaper or distribute it in lagers. Initially, we printed 2000 copies. Soon they were all gone and we realized we have to print more. In the end, we distributed more than 5000 copies in Berlin, Munchen, Jena, Erfurt, Bremen, Darmstadt, Kiel, Hannover, Delmenhorst, Landshut, Oldenburg … also in Manchester and Vienna. In Thessaloniki, people managed to throw packages of newspapers over the fences of a closed lager. This is all incredible and gave us the energy to continue. We like to thank everybody who moved the newspaper forward and invite all to join in the fight of breaking the isolation in lagers.
This is a communal newspaper, from people for people.

The victims of this asylum system

hunger-strike-sendlinger-tor-munich-6th November 2016, Munich

With this statement, we were going to announce dry hunger strike on 5th of November – the eviction of our protest camp forestalled this:

Today I would like to share the story of a youth from Senegal with you. This youth, martyr, our brother, comrade and my cousin through blood bond. I want to share his story, because the administrations played with the life of this boy and are still playing with our lives.

Nfally Biaye was murdered in the cruelest way, barbarically with multiple stabs with a knife. Nfally himself called the police, to save his life from the hands of a criminal, the police whose purpose is supposed to be ensuring the safety of people. But instead of fulfilling
their duties, the police let him die.

Who cares about the life of a migrant, especially the one of an asylum seeker?

On the 21st of February 2016 at 0:35 Nfally, according to the police, wanted to go to sleep in his room in the camp in Dorfen. At this moment he didn’t think, that death would be waiting for him. The murderer waited for him behind his door to take his life.

Nfally died from the knife stabs of his roommate. But the police murdered him, because they could have helped him when he needed them. The district office in Dorfen murdered Nfally, because they know the previous history of the murderer. The asylum system murdered Nfally
because people are forced to live in the same room, without considering the discriminations and attacks, resulting from differences in nationality, religion, culture and sexuality. They pretent to want to control everything, but they aren’t able to protect individual freedom.

Today we start with a thirst strike and because you play the blind and deaf, you can treat as the same way as you did with Nfally. That way you can kill us, without doing it with your own hands.

In memory of all warriors for justice, freedom and humanity. In memory of Nfally.

***deutsch***

In Erinnerung an Nfally.

The Struggle Continues!

hunger-strike-sendlinger-tor-munich2nd of November 2016, Munich

3rd day of Hunger Strike at Sendlinger Tor

On the 31st of October the struggle continues, in a nicer way. We just started the third phase of our protest, which means: hunger strike. In the first phase we were living at Sendlinger Tor to show our realities in the camps, eating, sleeping, watching TV, going to the toilet, and silencing all comments, which claim that we have everything. But our reality, our life is a modern prison, this is what we wanted to show. But we also wanted to draw the attention to the politicians and authorities. But unfortunately nothing, nothing at all came back from the authorities. At this point we started the second episode, which meant marching from Munich to Nuremberg. On the way we informed more people, distributed flyers, had direct contact with the population, but also and especially we were facing the BAMF and its bureaucrats, who are with their coffees in front of their computers, destroying our lives and our hope for integration into a society, that we had been part of for many years.

From the moment on, we fled persecution, war, corruption and crossed the impossible – namely the sea, the desert, and all the dangers that we met to find security – we had to realize unfortunately that the reality is another one.

Today is the third day of the hungerstrike, something that we were hesitating to do because of respect for religion, respect for our body, but also respect for the gift of life which we have the chance to enjoy here on earth. It is not a game, as a journalist asked me, it is a question of life or death and in any case, we don’t have a life, and this life, our life – it is the most precious thing we have – with this the authorities play, we turn depressive, get psychiatrized, all the illnesses which come of the flight, the insomnia, the crises caused by stress.

I ask myself, why not offering our lives to them and then they can decide how they want.

This situation cannot stay as it is, it has to change and we are doing all the necessary what has to be done, when it has to be done, because we have nothing to lose. Absolutely nothing and if there is nothing to lose, it is an opportunity, which we need to take, so let’s use it.

Hunger Strike At Sendlinger Tor 31oct 2016

Symbolic occupation at sendlinger Tor 7nov 2016
A protest march to Nürnburg 8oct 2016

The history of our protest and our campain was only because we wanted to tell this world that “our life should matter” .We are Refugees we have no right to live in a normal socity. We have been forced to leave our countries of origin we have been discriminated. We are screeming and crying and trying to tell the world what is our mistake why we are in a very lower level of humanity. We are humans ! What is our demand what is our goal . Not a life of prisoners not a life of slaves. Where is justice where is the humanity of westerners where is equality between colours culture religion language. In which century we live and in which ristrictions. And how long we have to be in these riatrictions 6 years 8 years the most important time of our life is wasting and wasting every day month and year in all countries as Refugees. These years can astabel our lives and we can get educate and intigirate. Our lives have no mean anymore in this time we are not demanding anything which is not our right just demanding Basic Human Rights.
We want to live ! To how many people we have to ask for it to how many people we should send the application that our lives should matter ?
Who is responding for our questions and who is responsible for our “situation our life”.
We are already dying everyday in our restricted life let us die in front of the world in hunger strike!!!! Because we are humans and this world is against humanity !!!!
Because we want to live a normal civilian life because we want” Right To Stay”.

Solidarity statement to the Protest March 2016 München to Nürnberg from International Women Space, Berlin

Protest March Münich to Nürnbergby International Women Space

We send solidarity greetings to our sisters and brothers on the protest march from Munich to Nürnberg! It feels so good and inspiring to see the videos of this strong, angry and energetic protest!
This is a clear reaction to the racist asylum laws which are passed here in Berlin and effect so many refugees all over Germany and even all over Europe. Laws which practically abolish the right of asylum for a huge number of people. Laws which abolish the right of privacy and dignity, by reintroducing food packages, Residenzpflicht, mass-accommodation etc. pp. Laws which try to divide minorities, an old colonial strategy, by categorizing refugees into „good victims“ and „bad criminals“. Laws which criminalize „arabic men“ as rapists, abusing feminist demands and struggles for a racist agenda. Deals and treaties with dictatorships all over the world to be able to „control migration“. Fences and walls which are build everywhere with the support european taxes. Laws and treaties which lead to the highest numbers of death in the mediterranean sea this year.
This is a clear reaction and resistance to the right wing propaganda of AFD, Pegida, Identitäre Bewegung and many more. A propaganda which leads to increasing numbers of racist attacks on individuals, organizations and refugee accommodations. We ask ourselves, how it comes that attacks by foreigners are easily categorized as terrorist actions, where else systematically organized racist attacks on refugee accommodations are not?
We hear the stories from our sisters in the refugee-accomdations in Berlin and Brandenburg and we have seen all sorts of violence against refugee women committed in Germany. Women suffering from acute forms of depression and heavily medicated; women who tried suicide; women who became alcoholics; women who suffered and continue suffering from sexist and racist attacks in the streets, by having their houses burnt by right extremists groups, by racist and sexual abusive security personnel in the Heim where they live; women being humiliated in the Ausländerbehörder, women being threatened with deportation and it’s violent agents.
But as an answer to the violence and oppression we hear stories of resistance, we are resisting and won’t keep silent..!!! Women, who are breaking the isolation and silence by giving testimonies about their situations and bringing them into the public. A woman, which resisted her own deportation twice, facing strong police brutality. A strong demonstration, in the beginning of this year, organized by women in Hennigsdorf after two women have been attacked by an armed Nazi in the public. A protest bus tour organized by Women in Exile going through Germany. The Roma-protest in Berlin and Regensburg, which a lot of women joined with their forces and voices. Various forms of resistance by women in accommodations just by coming together, chairing their stories and creating solidarity..
We need a new feminist approach to the struggles! One that includes the refugee women and their stories of resistance and survival against patriarchy in whichever form it appears, wherever it’s been implemented against women. We need to be thoughtful and practical. We need to have more feminist groups ready to engage politically in the fight against racism, we need to fight a system that forces women to get pregnant or married in order to stay in Germany, we need to fight sexism not only when news come reporting about a group of refugee men attacking german women!
As Angela Davis told us on her visit to Berlin in 2015: “The refugee movement is the movement of the 21st Century. It is the movement that is calling for the rights of all”. Let us all join together in this movement and continue to create structures of resistance against all forms of oppression!
